Thailand and specifically Bangkok offers excellent facilities for golfers. There are many extensive and vast greens making golfing an easy option.
Golf among the middle class affluent saw a recent boom during the nineties. Having a membership to such golf clubs was a matter of great prestige.
Most golf courses across Bangkok are open to public like Rose Garden Golf Club of Sampran, Nakhon Pathom, and Royal Golf & Country Club at Bang Sao Thong, Samut Prakan, and others. Royal Golf & Country Club (Telephone: 02-738-0131; website: www.royalgolfclubs.com) sports a beautiful 18-hole course with green fees of B2400 for weekends and B1500 for weekdays. Membership is for B 309,000.
Rose Garden Golf Club (Telephone: 034-322-769; website: www.thailandgolfparadise.com/rosegarden) also has an 18-hole championship golf course. Green fees here are B1300 for weekends and B700 for weekdays. This gold course remains closed on Mondays.
The golf courses support a leisure start and therefore extended hours of play too. Many golf courses offer discounts. Some hotels finalise arrangements for transportation and tee times. Caddies are cheap and carry spot balls, rake traps, bags, hold umbrellas, and some can read the greens too.
Western golfers need to adopt precautions while golfing in the heat of Bangkok. Use sufficient sunscreens and drink plenty of water to maintain hydration in your body. You could also take a change of clothing. It is best to use the showers available at most golf clubs. This facility helps you become fresh at the end of your golfing session.
