The Don Muang Airport is a don only in name and has given way to the Suvarnabhumi that has taken over the mantle of international airport. So when you hear of the Amari's proximity to the airport take care not to jump to the conclusion that it is the Intl airport.
The Amari is just a long walkway from the Don Muang, but is about 50 mins from the Suvarnabhumi Intl. airport. The expressway goes right by it and so it's accessible in more ways than one.
