Chatuchak Weekend Market
Chatuchak Weekend Market or J.J. Market as Thailand's largest flea market, is a must for all travellers wanting to experience the unique, to savour the ambiance of street life. There are a myriad of stalls in groups by differing themes, fish, food, clothes pets and a lot, lot more. It is almost breath taking what is sold in such a small area. It is called Chatuchak after the local park.
Chatuchak Weekend Market is about 1.1 km squared and has over 4800 stalls and around 200,000 visitors a day. The market has been there since 1982 when Field Marshal Plaek Phibulsongkram, the then prime minister of Thailand decided it would be a good idea to set up a market or Talad in every town.
To find the nearest station to Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok you need to aim for Kamphaengphet station (MRT Bangkok Metro Blue Line). The Market is about 5-minute walk from the Mo Chit station (BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line). It is also close to the MRT station Suan Chatuchak (Chatuchak Park).
