Nightlife in Bangkok Bangkok nightlife

Jump to: Bangkok nightlife Galleries - Bangkok nightlife Articles

The nightlife in Bangkok was made famous by the hit song from a musical and at one time was considered seedy, but the nightlife in Bangkok has come a long way since then. It has progressed by leaps and bounds in recent years. Now it is considered to be the best in Southeast Asia. The nightlife ranges from the small, intimate bars and restaurants to the large nightclubs. Bangkok now has plenty of options to keep the night owls of all taste satisfied.

Bars and clubs seem to congregate together in certain areas. It is the same with the nightlife in Bangkok. Starting with the classy Sukhumwit Road there are many great entertainment sites located here. These range from the sheer class of the Orient Hotel's bars and restaurants to the taste of those who like the go-go bars. There is a vast choice of restaurants here making it the perfect spot to eat dinner before exploring the sights and sounds of the nightlife in Bangkok. This area also has some very popular bars, such as Gulliver's which has a lively atmosphere and terrific beer on tap.

Late-night shopping is another aspect of the nightlife in Bangkok. The malls all stay open late, but the most popular sites are the night markets. One of these markets is the Patpong market. This area is well known for its crude bars offering a variety of shows. It is also known as the home of the best market, the Pratunam Market, to buy your Rolex watch or Louis Vitton bag, but among these suspicious goods is a range of more traditional Thai artwork. Suan Luam Night Bazaar is another area near Sukhumwit road on Rama IV road, which is more relaxed with restaurants and bars in a designated area. Also you can check out the Khao San Road, which is crowded day and night you will find everything from fake students Ids to clothing, music and many other items.

When you have finished your shopping stint, your nightlife in Bangkok is not over. You should find one of Bangkok's live music sites to listen to some great music. Many well-known jazz musicians play regularly at the Oriental Hotel's Bamboo Bar and the well known Saxophone Pub. These places are home to a large number of friendly locals. If you are a fan of Blues and Rock music you should visit CM2, which is located underneath the Novetel, or visit the Issan Champroo Blues Bar and Restaurant, where you can dance the night away to great live music.

If the nightlife of Bangkok has still not satiated your appetite, there are still a number of clubs you have not seen, such as the Bed Supperclub. This is a large place with a futuristic setting a hit with the "in" crowd on Sukhumwith Soi 11. Angels is a more relaxed, laid back atmosphere and then there is Home, which is a large hip-hop sit spread over three-floors.

The nightlife in Bangkok does include the go-go bars for which they are so well known, but there is another side to the nightlife in Bangkok. I hope you will take the opportunity to check out the other side of nightlife in Bangkok.
