Around Bangkok: Floating Market Tour

For a taste of what life is like for the average Thai, take a floating market tour while visiting Bangkok. A floating market tour is probably the best way to get away from the "touristy" part of Bangkok and see authentic Bangkok at its best. The floating market tour is not for those looking for tranquility; it is full of chaos and trading, but it is a lot of fun and the best way to pick up some fantastic bargains.

There are several versions of the floating market tour which takes you to Damnoen Saduak. This is a popular floating market in Bangkok and not so far off the beaten path that you will feel like you are in the middle of the wilderness. Here you will see small canals filled with flat boats where wares are piled into for sale. The floating market tour will take you to Damnoen Saduak via long boat, which is something in itself. Once there, you will be awed by the many different vendors hawking their wares from their boats. It is noisy, but so much fun that you will quickly get caught up in the bargaining that takes place here on a daily basis.

Also during the floating market tour, you will visit the town of Nakorn Pathom and see the local residents in their element. This is a wonderful way to experience true Thai culture at its best, without the touristy traps. Nakorn Pathom also boasts the largest pagoda in all of Southeast Asia, so be sure to bring your camera.

The half day floating market tour is wonderful in itself, but you can easily make a day of this event by taking the combined rose garden tour. The rose garden tour takes you to the beautiful rose garden cultural show that takes place periodically in Bangkok. The gardens are something to behold and make for some fabulous photographs.

You can also take the floating market tour in combination with the River Kwai tour that takes you past the historic "Bridge Over The River Kwai" that has been immortalized in film. This is another sight you will not want to miss during your holiday in Bangkok.

The floating market tour includes transport to and from your hotel in an air conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking guide and, of course, lunch. Just about every tour in Bangkok includes some sort of food as Thai people love to eat and love to feed visitors. And the cuisine is something that will surely tempt your taste buds and leave you wanting more.

For the true "Thai" experience while holidaying in Bangkok, be sure to take the Floating Market tour to Damnoen Saduak. You will not regret this wonderful journey into real Thai culture.
